⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Chris (Conversational French – Adult Learner) Peterborough
“I have been learning French with Sabina for the past 4 months. She had a difficult task, having never learned a language before I was starting at age 46! From a standing start, she has brought me to a place where I can understand basic questions, form simple sentences, use correct grammar and respond in French – all in 4 months! I cannot recommend her highly enough. Her knowledge of the language is excellent, every lesson contains new learning, and most importantly, she makes it fun to learn!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Macey (KS3 to GCSE French 9 Year Old French Learner) Spalding
Sabina has been teaching me since February. She is very kind and she teaches me very well, and I get challenged, which I like. Her lessons are very fun and I do my lessons on Fridays and I am always very excited to do my lessons.

WHY WOULD I BE A GOOD PRIVATE FRENCH TUTOR?

Passion for Languages

First of all, the only thing I have ever wanted to do with my life since I was eleven years old, is with languages. I am extremely passionate about languages and teaching, which are a pretty good combination as a French teacher!

Qualifications and Experience in French

I have been speaking French for 22 years. I took my French GCSE in 2003 and achieved a Grade A, I completed A Level French with a Grade A, as well a 2:1 in my French (and German) Joint Honors BA Degree. In terms of teaching, I obtained my first teaching qualification in 2009. Over the last few years, I have also obtained my QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE in Secondary French and German education.

With family in France and a love of skiing, I travel regularly to France which has helped me to keep up my language skills over the years. I enjoy watching French language films, as well as reading online magazines, blogs and newspapers in French, too.

Student Focused Teaching Method

My key focus is the student. I adapt the course and lessons to meet the needs of the learner with their language learning goal at the forefront of each lesson. For example:

1. Before the lesson and during the first French lesson, we’ll establish what you feel are your ‘problem areas’ and your strengths
2. We’ll spend about 20-30 minutes doing some varied diagnostic activities on speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar to check your current French level.
3. I’ll suggest areas of improvement and we’ll begin working on those, combined with the issues you have highlighted.
4. We can decide on the frequency of lessons, depending upon availability and affordability and I can give homework if required between the lessons. Completing a little bit of ‘French homework’ in between the lesson will certainly accelerate progress, especially if you want to make a lot of progress quickly.

Fun and Interactive French Lessons

Every student has different needs, but one of the key factors which hinders French learners is a lack of confidence or vocabulary. Building confidence and the range of vocabulary is really important. Knowing that you can speak, or that you can understand a language and feeling confident about it makes a huge difference. Especially at KS3, GCSE and for adult learners. We work on that with plenty of fun, interactive and effective activities, which check, test and push you to feeling confident communicating in French.
