5. Fun, Friendly and Flexible EFL, French and EFL Teacher
I am an extremely enthusiastic teacher with a real passion for teaching and helping learners reach their goals in a fun and engaging way. Teaching online has differences to teaching face-to-face. However, in the same way as teaching with a student in front of you, as an online language tutor, I use clear instructions, examples, games, gap filling activities, matching activities, role plays, explanation sheets, handouts and innovative methods of teaching that I have learned over the past nine years to help learners to learn any language. I am a native English speaker but I travel regularly to France and Germany and communicate with native French and German speakers every day.
Lessons are tailor-made for each student and they are as interactive as possible, with you contributing as much as you can. Students learn best by making mistakes and so I make notes of your mistakes as the lesson progresses and allow you to tell me how the mistakes should be corrected during the lesson at a couple of intervals – this really works on improving your fluency quickly!
To see if I am the best fit for you for your online language tutoring needs, or face-to-face teaching (if you are local to Spalding, Bourne, Peterborough or Boston), please read on for a little bit more background into my teaching skills, as well as my approach as a language teacher, my experience and qualifications, as well as an outline of pricing.
6. Great Results and Happy Students!
I am lucky enough to have had many students over the years, including children, teenagers and adults, for German lessons, French lessons and EFL. Here are just a few testimonials from them:
Alex E., German Conversation Classes
“I have a lesson with Sabina almost every week, often at different times due to my work schedule, we start our lessons in German. Greeting each other in German and talking about what I have done in the week, e.g. activities, work, going out, eaten etc… This way I’m learning the language by my own life, which I really enjoy. It puts relevance to what I am learning, its not just about saying hello, my name is, I like eating… its about being given the tools to hold a conversation with someone in another language.
Our lessons have taught me to communicate with people, not just talk to people. My biggest weakness is listening comprehension, I need to have someone say the words to me, and hold that conversation in German, as listening to TV, YouTube is not enough for you to have proper social interactions.
What Sabina has done for me is given me the tools needed to understand sentences not just a word here or there, so when our lessons are over I know I have learned something specific and helpful to my language comprehension, which makes me feel good about myself. Sabina takes the time to tailor a lesson to your needs, which is brilliant. For our lessons, I do want to learn the grammar, but I don’t want to drown in it, so she explains how and why sentences are structured in the way they are and what grammar to use. Then lets me use the sentences and grammar I have learned, without overloading my mind. This is very useful as the new information I am taught stays current.
She sets me assignments to do between lessons, this is also very useful as it allows expansion on the lesson gone and a good basis for the next lesson, allowing me to learn quicker.
Most importantly though, if I have a question, if I don’t know what to say, if I can’t understand what I’m being told, I feel comfortable to ask for help, which to me, is very important. I would highly recommend her for any of your language learning needs.”
Sue C., Adult German Conversation Classes
Brilliant tutor, according to my 70 year old mother who has been taking lessons for a while with Sabina now.
– Chris, Conversational French – Adult Learner
“I have been learning French with Sabina for the past 4 months. She had a difficult task, having never learned a language before I was starting at age 46! From a standing start, she has brought me to a place where I can understand basic questions, form simple sentences, use correct grammar and respond in French – all in 4 months! I cannot recommend her highly enough. Her knowledge of the language is excellent, every lesson contains new learning, and most importantly, she makes it fun to learn!”
JS, Mother of Student for Private German GCSE Tutoring
“Put simply, Sabina is just amazing. She is well prepared before every lesson and she ensures that everything learnt in a lesson is recapped at the end. She is very thorough and always notes down topics and grammar sections that my son wants to go over in the future. She assists him with his vocabulary learning and she always encourages him to extend this further. Sabina has helped my son with all aspects of his German IGCSE course and recently she has helped him perform highly in his speaking exam by tailoring her teaching to his needs.
She is also very flexible with her lessons and always finds a way to fit in my son’s lessons, especially as he approached the speaking exam, she set aside many lessons just for him! My son has only been having lessons with Sabina for a short amount of time, despite this his confidence has grown, his vocabulary recall has improved and his use and variety of complex structures in his writing has developed. Sabina has taken my son from an A/B (6/7) standard to a high A* (8/9) level. Overall, Sabina is great German teacher and I highly recommend her!”
Lisa, Mother of Private German GCSE Tutee
“As a tutor, Sabina has been a great help with Georgia whilst studying for her GCSE in German. She has helped with both vocabulary and speaking, and her confidence has gone from strength to strength since starting with Sabina. Georgia is hoping to continue with A-level, and Sabina’s teaching method has assisted Georgia with this decision. Sabina is punctual and an excellent teacher and I would strongly recommend her.”
John Parkin, Father of Home-educated GCSE German Student
My daughter, who is home-educated, has been working towards GCSE German with Sabina for about 9 months. She started as an absolute beginner and has made remarkable progress. She looks forward to her lessons, is motivated to do her homework, and is enjoying the subject. Sabina is friendly, professional and well organised, and her teaching has a clear structure, direction and purpose. Altogether ideal, in fact.
Emily Potts, Parent of German GCSE Student
I highly recommend the Ideal Teacher Language School. Sabina is a wonderful teacher. She is helping my son with his GCSE German and he has seen huge improvements across all areas even after just one month. In addition to being a subject expert, Sabina is very adept at relating her subject knowledge to the GCSE syllabus, making it clear as to what is required at each level, all the way up to achieving the top grades. Sabina combines thoroughness with patience, kindness and easy to understand explanations which makes her lessons very enjoyable.
Amanda, GCSE German Student’s Mother
Sabina is a great tutor for my daughter, who is studying GCSE German. The lessons are well structured with relevant back up materials. The lessons have focused on developing my daughter in those areas where she is less confident. However, Sabina has also introduced newer aspects of the language that has really enriched my daughter`s understanding. Overall, the lessons are excellently tailored to my daughter`s ability and progress.
Clare, Mum of KS2/3 Student Working Towards GCSE
Sabina has been teaching my daughter French and German on a weekly basis since February. She is friendly and professional at all times. The transition from face to face lessons to Skype due to COVID-19 was seemless. My daughter is always enthusiastic about, and really enjoys, her lessons and looks forward to them. She really likes Sabina too. Sabina is encouraging and challenging in perfect balance
