French Film Genres and French Series Types – Listening & Reading Practice on Netflix
I recently visited France. Usually, when I go, I try and find authentic examples of vocabulary to share with my students. On this particular visit, I recorded the home screen of Netflix so I could share the French film genres and series types with my students. I combined this with French listening practice by getting a native French speaker to say what I had prepared. This allows my students to have access to different French accents!

Watch the whole ‘French film genres and series types’ listening practice clip here which is suitable for KS3 French students, French GCSE, as well as iGCSE and CEFR A1 and A2 French students. It can be given as homework with the worksheet, or to complete with any of the listening activities mentioned in the video. Alternatively, why not use in the lesson as consolidation to the film genres learnt in class?
It’s particularly useful as it includes real French film types and series genres which French people actually use. I hope this helps you as a French learner to say more than: j’adore les comédies et les dessins animés.
